Consistent high demand relative to supply is a key feature in Traralgon driving regular price increases. Recent rapid price increases however may constrain future growth by limiting demand. Incomes in Traralgon are above average indicating a preference for good quality housing and lifestyle. That ensures consistent price growth. Price growth is ensured even where the state affordability index is negatively impacting other areas. Medium density in Traralgon necessitates a mix of lifestyle options for housing, shops, open areas, and facilties. Where this is available, demand is high and growth ensured. Lower than average industry presence in Traralgon we believe will be less of a negative impact than it has in the past. Traralgon is a city in the east of the Latrobe Valley within the state of Victoria. First established in the early 1860s, with a post office opening in 1861. In 1877 the Bairnsdale railway line out of Melbourne was finished, furnishing Traralgon with a station along a major rail route. This provided a massive boost to the economy, leading to rapid growth throughout the area throughout the remainder of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th. The economy, initially focused on agriculture, began to diversify in the 1930s and in 1964, Traralgon was proclaimed a city. In the modern day, much of the economy (and thus much of the work) in Traralgon is driven by the industries of natural resources and coal mining, along with power generation.
As the largest and fastest-growing city in the conurbation of the Greater Latrobe Valley, Traralgon has a thriving population of around 28,000 residents. The city is well furnished with excellent public amenities, including schools, and has a number of sports clubs, with the town having a particular connection to Australian Rules football. Traralgon is known locally for its night life, with people from all over the surrounding area travelling into the city to visit its nightclubs and bars.
